Northrop homes for sale
Lying in the southern portion of Minneapolis is the neighborhood of Northrop, an area that has the boundaries of Cedar Avenue, Chicago Avenue, Minnehaha Parkway and 42nd Street. Many of the neighborhoods throughout Minneapolis were named after the school that was in the community before the neighborhood was established and Northrop is one of these instances. It was named after Northrop Elementary School, which got its name from the second person to become president of the University of Minnesota – Cyrus Northrop. It has an active commercial area that it shares with the adjacent neighborhood of Field, which lies to the west of Northrop. Most of the homes located in the Northrop neighborhood were built with single families in mind. They consist mainly of two bedroom homes that were built before WWII and the materials are typically stone, brick and stucco. Families with young kids appreciate McRae Park, which is the main park in the Northrop neighborhood, and it includes updated playground equipment as well as open areas for enjoying other outdoor activities.
